A good dribbler in football possesses a range of attributes that include excellent ball control, close ball control, agility, speed, balance, and vision.

They are confident, creative, and have strong decision-making abilities, allowing them to take on defenders effectively and create scoring opportunities. Additionally, they can protect possession, change their pace, use both feet, maintain composure, and adapt their dribbling style to various situations on the pitch.

Mental toughness, spatial awareness, and the ability to entertain fans also contribute to their effectiveness. In summary, a skilled dribbler is a versatile and game-changing player who can make a significant impact on a football match.

If we were to imagine the President of Nigeria as a footballer, it’s evident that he would confidently outperform even the most legendary players, such as Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar. Tinubu has not only displayed remarkable resilience, akin to the proverbial nine-lived cat, but has also showcased his prowess as a skilled player.

Tinubu embarked on his political journey from the moment he assumed the role of Governor of Lagos in 1999. At that time, he already harbored presidential ambitions and skillfully began plotting his path to Aso Rock. Many other leaders who recognized his clear vision initiated efforts to challenge his noble aspirations.

During his stint as Governor of Lagos, Obasanjo began a persistent campaign against Tinubu, attempting to derail Tinubu’s political ascension, which was swiftly gathering traction among his contemporaries. Tinubu had already earned a reputation in Lagos for enacting multiple ground-breaking changes that had the potential to transform the landscape of governance.

Despite Obasanjo’s formidable political machinery and his successful manipulation of electoral processes in other South-western states, he encountered an impregnable defense in Tinubu’s Lagos. Every conceivable tactic, including the deployment of ethnic divisions, was brought into play, but none proved effective in breaching the fortress of Tinubu’s political stronghold.

When Jonathan’s administration assumed power, they left no doubt about their determination to undermine Tinubu’s influence. In an attempt to diminish his stature, the administration resorted to deploying the Code of Conduct Bureau to investigate Tinubu.

However, this endeavor, like those before it, encountered insurmountable resistance. The Code of Conduct Bureau’s efforts met with a resounding failure, failing to breach the formidable defenses that Tinubu had put in place. Tinubu remained steadfast, further establishing his reputation as a political force to be reckoned with. It’s a case exemplifying how a clear conscience knows no fear.

As a deft player in the political arena, Tinubu executed his strategic passes with precision, ultimately clinching the coveted APC presidential ticket. This accomplishment was no small feat, particularly in the face of a formidable faction within the APC led by the former National Chairman, Abdullahi, who sought to obstruct Tinubu’s progress on the field.

Against all obstacles, Tinubu’s tenacity and skill triumphed. He won an openly contested battle leaving his opponents in the dust with an almost flawless performance. This triumph solidified Tinubu’s position as a dominant player in the political league.

Prior to the presidential elections, he was rumoured to be AS DEAD AS DODO by the opposition, despite having the highest attendance at rallies and political participation among all 18 presidential contenders or so.

His opponents resorted to twisting his speeches and attempted to manipulate the rules of the political game, but Tinubu remained steadfast and unrelenting in his pursuit of the ultimate goal. He not only maintained his focus but also achieved remarkable success, scoring numerous political victories akin to hat-tricks in football.

Today, after defeating those who had self-proclaimed themselves as political Messis, such as Peter Obi, and Ronaldos, exemplified by Atiku’s team, the narrative has shifted dramatically. It’s no longer a question of securing just 25% support in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), but rather, the focus has shifted to allegations surrounding a forged certificate.

The pressing question that arises now is why would someone who not only completed their education but also obtained certification resort to forging their educational credentials?

In the realm of governance, an effective president shares numerous qualities with a skilled soccer dribbler on the field. Both demand strong leadership abilities, proficient decision-making, adaptability to evolving circumstances, and the capacity to instill confidence and unity among their respective “teams”—be it the citizens or fellow players.

Furthermore, they maintain steadfast calm in difficult situations, emphasise inclusivity in their approaches, and have the power to create game-changing reforms through their policies and actions.

Ultimately, their overarching goal is to steer their “team” toward progress, inclusiveness, and prosperity while concurrently serving as a source of hope and inspiration, spurring civic engagement among their constituents or fans.
