‘I’m Not Obidient Or Kwankwasiyya’ — Seriake Dickson Reveals NDC’s Next Move

National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has said the party has resolved its internal disputes and is now focused on securing victory in the 2027 general election.

According to Ireporter Online, Dickson made the disclosure on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he discussed the relationship between the NDC and the support groups associated with its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The former Bayelsa State governor said the party’s primary objective was to win the 2027 election, urging supporters of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements to work towards the same goal despite maintaining their separate identities.

Dickson clarified that he is not a member of either the Obidient movement or the Kwankwasiyya political support group, stressing that his allegiance remains with the NDC.

“I’m not a member of Kwankwasiyya. I’m not a member of Obedient. I am NDC,” he said.

According to him, both support groups have the constitutional right to operate independently, while their principals remain the NDC’s presidential candidate and running mate for the 2027 election.

Dickson said the party had already settled its internal issues by selecting its candidates, adding that there was no longer any internal battle to resolve within the NDC.

He explained that the focus had now shifted towards taking the party’s campaign message to Nigerians and building the necessary political support ahead of the election.

“There are no internal battles to fight in the NDC. We have decided candidature. The next stage of the battle, strategically, is to win the election,” Dickson said.

He further disclosed that he had held several meetings with political stakeholders involved in the emerging alliance, noting that the relationships among them had developed over years of political engagement.

Dickson said the stakeholders had at various times been colleagues, partners, friends or members of the same political camp, but had continued to maintain communication despite their changing political affiliations.

He added that the partnership was united by a shared objective of defeating their opponents and winning the next election.

“We have a partnership that is committed to winning the next elections. That is the most important thing,” he said.
