I’m Too Mysterious” — Blaqbonez Reveals Why He Rejected $1M Mavin Deal

Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has described himself as a “mysterious” person while explaining why he rejected a reported $1 million offer from Mavin Records to join the label.

According to reports, the rapper made the revelation in a post shared on his X handle, stating that his personality and approach to social media made him turn down the lucrative deal. Blaqbonez explained that he is not a fan of constantly engaging fans online or maintaining an active social media presence, adding that such expectations may not fit with the demands of a major music label.

In his post, the rapper said he prefers making rare appearances online rather than regularly interacting with followers, insisting that his “mysterious” nature influenced his decision to decline the offer despite the huge financial incentive.

Meanwhile, the music star also spoke about Nigeria’s political climate during a recent appearance on the Off The Record podcast, where he disclosed that he has never participated in any election in the country.

Blaqbonez said years of waiting for meaningful change without visible progress left him disappointed in the nation’s leadership and political system. He explained that many hopes he once had for the country failed to materialise, leading him to emotionally detach himself from the system.

The rapper further argued that Nigeria’s leadership crisis is closely tied to the mindset and behaviour of its citizens. He added that he sees little distinction between political parties, claiming that the same challenges persist regardless of who occupies power.
