Saliu Danladi Emerges Winner Of Kwara APC Governorship Primary

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saliu Danladi, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to reports, Danladi secured more than 94,000 votes to defeat 14 other aspirants and clinch the party’s governorship ticket after the primary election held on Friday. The exercise had initially been scheduled for Thursday before it was shifted by the party leadership over what was described as logistical challenges.

The development followed an earlier decision by Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to back Danladi as his preferred successor after reportedly withdrawing support for former frontrunner, Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki.

Danladi, who is from Kwara North, contested against several high-profile aspirants and was eventually declared winner by the chairman of the APC primary election committee, Musiliu Obanikoro.

Official results showed Danladi polling 94,990 votes to defeat Seriki, who garnered 41,700 votes, while Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa secured 22,118 votes. Other contenders recorded lower figures, including Engr. Femi Sani with 5,519 votes, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe with 3,920 votes, Bello Belgore with 3,411 votes, Mohamed Bio with 1,122 votes, Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin with 1,099 votes, Prof. Wale Suleiman with 2,434 votes, and Prof. Abubakar Suleiman with 1,722 votes.

In a related development, Ahmed Galadima was declared winner of the APC governorship primary election in Adamawa State for the 2027 polls.

The announcement was made on Friday by the chairman of the party’s governorship primary committee in the state after Galadima polled 414,444 votes to defeat his closest rivals. Abdulrazak Namdas secured 86,004 votes, while Abdulrahman Haske received 65,934 votes.

Galadima’s emergence followed the withdrawal of three aspirants in his favour ahead of the primary election. Those who stepped down include Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Thul.
