This announcement came during the inauguration of a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility by Artemis Laboratories Limited in Ota, Ogun State.

Despite challenges and the departure of some pharmaceutical companies, Kern emphasized that Nigeria’s substantial market size makes it an attractive destination for investment. He highlighted India’s commitment to not only exporting medicines but also fostering partnerships with Nigerian businesses, aiming to establish Indian manufacturing companies within the country.

In a significant move, Kern revealed that additional Indian investors have been granted approval to inject $25 million into the Nigerian economy, signaling a deepening of bilateral economic ties.

The Consul General stressed the importance of local pharmaceutical manufacturing to meet Nigeria’s healthcare needs. While recognizing the challenges in producing certain specialized drugs locally, Kern questioned the rationale behind importing basic medications like Paracetamol, suggesting that resources could be better allocated to boost the Nigerian economy.

Moreover, Kern affirmed India’s support for NAFDAC’s 5+5 policy, aimed at promoting local manufacturing to drive economic development. This reaffirms India’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and underscores the potential for fruitful collaboration between the two nations.
