In Kano State, voters in Dawakin Kudu State Constituency will also participate in the bye-election.

INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Tunde Oketola, confirmed the September 19 date in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.

The commission is expected to release the detailed timetable, guidelines and other arrangements for the elections ahead of the exercise.

The development comes as INEC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections. The commission has also warned political parties and their candidates against abusive, inflammatory and threatening campaign language.
