JAMB Registrar Oloyede Reveals His Most Painful Moment In Office

According to Ireporter Online, Oloyede made the revelation during an interview on THISDAY Live, a programme aired on Arise Television, shortly after handing over leadership of JAMB to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina.

The former registrar, who completed two terms in office, said he was deeply disturbed whenever he discovered that some parents were actively supporting fraudulent practices to help their children gain unfair advantages in examinations.

Oloyede explained that the actions of such parents were more troubling than the misconduct of candidates themselves, stressing that many students were influenced by the behaviour and decisions of adults around them.

He said the involvement of parents in examination malpractice was a way of exposing young people to unethical practices and criminal behaviour at an early stage.

According to him, the discovery often left him emotional, as he questioned why some parents would encourage actions capable of damaging the future of their children.

Oloyede described his tenure at JAMB as a rewarding period overall, noting that the greatest challenge he faced was confronting parents who played roles in facilitating examination fraud.

While reflecting on his achievements, the former registrar expressed optimism that his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, would further improve the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) through increased use of technology.

He noted that Aina’s background in computer engineering would be an advantage in advancing the technological reforms already introduced at JAMB.

Oloyede also maintained that continued innovation and stronger systems would help improve transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s examination processes.
