Just In: ASUU Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Absence Of University Governing Councils (Full Details)
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a warning of a possible nationwide strike to protest the absence of governing councils in all federal universities across Nigeria, among other unresolved issues with the government.
ASUU pointed out that the federal government dissolved the governing councils of universities in May last year and has not addressed this issue since. The union urged Nigerians to hold the government responsible for any action it takes to protest against this neglect.
Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of ASUU, made these statements during an ongoing press conference at the ASUU national secretariat in Abuja.
