Kuwait Wins Nigeria’s Praise For Powering Global South’s Economic Transformation
Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar has lauded the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) for its instrumental role in advancing economic and social progress throughout the Global South, especially Nigeria — according to iReporter Online.
In a statement issued on Monday, according to iReporter Online, Tuggar highlighted the significance of his recent high-level bilateral meeting in Abuja with Waleed Al-Bahar, the Director-General of KFAED.
The meeting focused on expanding strategic cooperation between Nigeria and Kuwait, targeting areas aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He emphasized that the longstanding diplomatic ties between the two nations, dating back to the 1960s, remain vibrant and productive. Tuggar praised KFAED’s substantial contributions to developmental efforts, particularly in infrastructure, human capital development, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment.
Education also took center stage, with both parties commending the success of the “Reaching Out-of-School Children” initiative in Kaduna — a collaborative effort with UNICEF and supported by KFAED.
Tuggar called for replicating such impactful projects nationwide to bridge Nigeria’s educational disparities.
In terms of food security, the minister proposed deepened collaboration in agricultural modernization, with a focus on irrigation, agro-processing, and tech-driven solutions.
He also urged Kuwait to support new infrastructure ventures in transportation, digital connectivity, and energy through concessional financing and technical aid.
Furthermore, Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to host the first-ever Nigeria-Kuwait Joint Commission for Cooperation before the year ends, aimed at institutionalizing bilateral dialogue and accelerating shared development goals — according to iReporter Online.
