According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, the development followed a viral complaint shared on social media by a user identified as @ejylemykel1, who alleged that officers of the Nigerian Police Force carried out the actions on Monday night. The claims quickly drew widespread public attention, with many Nigerians raising concerns about recurring misconduct among law enforcement officials.

The complainant alleged that the officers, believed to be attached to an Anti-Cultism unit, were seen stopping youths, questioning them, and seizing their phones without providing clear reasons, actions widely described as an abuse of authority.

In a statement released on its official platform, the Lagos Police Command confirmed that the officers involved had been identified and subsequently detained. The command further disclosed that the officers were brought before the Commissioner of Police, where initial statements were taken.

Authorities revealed that the Commissioner has ordered their continued detention pending the outcome of a detailed investigation into the allegations. The command also noted that it has reached out to the complainant, who has been invited to provide further information to support the ongoing probe.
