Lagos Police to Arraign Notorious Duo Over N25,000 Street Robbery

The Lagos State Police Command is set to arraign Yemi Aparaojo, a recently released ex-convict, and his associate, Samuel Adekunle, for allegedly robbing a passerby of ₦25,000 at Mile 12.

The incident occurred after the suspects, alongside two others, reportedly begged the victim for financial assistance. However, as the man reached out to help, they assaulted him and stole his money.

According to a statement posted on the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Facebook page, Aparaojo (33), also known as Asa, had just been released from Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025, after serving six and a half years. His partner, Adekunle (37), alias Omo-jo–Ibo, is allegedly linked to several traffic-related robberies in Ajelogo and Ketu areas.

The suspects were apprehended around 11 a.m. on Tuesday after the victim recognized them and alerted RRS operatives. Two other accomplices reportedly escaped through Ketu Market during the arrest.

The police disclosed that following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, the suspects would be immediately charged to court.

The RRS Commander, CSP Sola Jejeloye, has also reinforced patrol units in the Ketu–Mile 12 corridor to curb rising street crime. He assured that efforts are ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects.

“These criminals exploited the goodwill of a kind-hearted citizen. Their arrest is part of a wider strategy to ensure Lagosians can go about their daily lives without fear,” the police stated.
