Sowore, in a Facebook post, claimed that Buhari did not deserve any happiness due to the corruption, economic turmoil, and violence that marked his time in office. He described Buhari’s eight-year tenure as a “disastrous” period of “economic destruction, looting, and massacres,” adding that the former president’s birthday should not be celebrated.

In response, Igbokwe expressed disbelief and disapproval, labeling Sowore’s statement as “total madness.” He emphasized that Sowore’s remarks were unacceptable and crossed a line, warning him of the consequences of such behavior. Igbokwe also stressed that Sowore was not above the law and urged him to reconsider his actions.

Garba Shehu Hits Out at Obasanjo on Buhari’s Birthday

Meanwhile, Garba Shehu, the former spokesperson for President Buhari, used the occasion of his former boss’s 82nd birthday to take aim at ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. Shehu criticized Obasanjo for undermining his successors through public letters and calls for their removal.

Shehu praised Buhari for his approach since leaving office, highlighting his commitment to giving the new administration space to thrive. He noted that Buhari has stayed away from Abuja, visiting only twice since his tenure ended in 2023. In contrast, Shehu pointed out that Obasanjo has frequently criticized or tried to publicly shame subsequent leaders after his own presidency.
