May Edochie Breaks Silence On How She Met Yul — “It Wasn’t At A Party!”

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian entrepreneur and social media personality May Edochie has shared new details about how she met her estranged husband, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. Speaking during a recent lifestyle podcast, May revealed that their first encounter was far from glamorous, contrary to what many might assume about celebrity relationships.

She disclosed that they met at a General Certificate Examination (GCE) centre during her early university years, long before fame or marriage entered the picture. At the time, May had just relocated from Lagos to pursue her degree at Enugu State University, while Yul was a student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).

Describing herself as academically focused, May said her priorities were centered on her studies rather than social events. “Way back in school when I went to the East for my university, I was a bookworm. It’s always been about books for me. We didn’t meet at a party or any glamorous setting; we met at a GCE centre,” she recalled.

In a related development, actress Anita Joseph has reacted to recent claims made by May’s former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, who accused her of arranging fake awards and ambassadorial deals for May. Ugwuonye made the allegations in a viral video shortly after May filed a ₦1.5 billion defamation and cyberbullying lawsuit against him.

Responding via Instagram, Anita Joseph refuted the claims, asserting that every award May received was legitimate. She questioned why Ugwuonye continued to attack his former client and criticized his unprofessional conduct in publicly disparaging May.
