Miracle Rescue: Police Save 3-Day-Old Baby In Nasarawa, Suspects In Custody

According to Ireporter Online, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a three-day-old baby who was abducted and arrested two suspects connected to the crime.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, stated that the incident was reported on Sunday, March 29, by 19-year-old Aisha Basa, a resident of Ungwan Bako, Orange Market, Mararaba in Karu Local Government Area. The mother explained that her husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle operator, had been away on business in Lagos for five months.

Basa reported that on Saturday, March 28, at around 11:50 pm, while she was asleep with her newborn in her home on the outskirts of Ungwan Bawa, two unidentified men broke in, threatened her, and abducted the child.

Following the report, Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro-Mohammed, directed detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division to visit the scene and launched a full-scale investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested two suspects, Furera Abdulrahman, 35, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39, of Ungwan Bako, Orange Market, at about 4:00 am on April 3, 2026.

The abducted baby boy was recovered from the suspects and immediately taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where he was examined and certified to be in good health. He has since been reunited with his parents.

SP Nansel revealed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed and named an accomplice who remains at large. The case is ongoing and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further investigation.
