Mohbad’s Family Responds To Allegations Of Threatening Late Singer’s Wife
The family of the deceased singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has formally addressed and refuted accusations of making threats against the life of the deceased’s widow, Wunmi, and their son, Liam….CONTINUE READING
These allegations arose following Wunmi’s claim of receiving intimidating calls warning her against seeking justice for her late husband’s demise.
In a statement released on Friday evening by the family’s legal representatives, the allegations were deemed sensitive, with an appeal to Wunmi to identify any family members allegedly involved in making such threats.
Signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the legal team, the statement emphasized that the family has no intention of intimidating Wunmi, despite unresolved issues regarding Liam’s paternity, Mohbad’s alleged child.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a circulating news item alleging that the Aloba Family, along with some bloggers: Bukky Jesse, Yeye Kudi Courtroom, and Adeshina Kasbir Hayat (hereinafter referred to as our Clients), are targeting the life of the late Ilerioluwa promise Aloba’s widow, also known as Mohbad).
“Due to the sensitive nature of the allegation and the ongoing investigation into the unusual death of the late Mohbad, we find it necessary to respond to Mrs. Wunmi Aloba’s allegations.
“In the said publication, Mrs. Wunmi Aloba raised some significant issues. Firstly, she claimed, ‘her husband’s family have vowed to kill her and her son.’ Mrs. Wunmi Aloba failed to provide specific names of those who threatened her and failed to present evidence of threats issued to her by the Aloba Family.
“As the legal maxim states ‘he who asserts must prove.’ If seeking the truth about who killed their late son, Ilerioluwa Aloba, is a threat to her, she should inform the Nigerian public.
“Our clients have not and are not in any position to threaten the wife of their late son, despite the unresolved issues concerning the paternity of their grandchild. It is worth noting that even when Wunmi sent a harsh voice message to Mr. Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, Mr. Aloba chose to ignore it, understanding the emotional trauma from the death of his son.
“Secondly, Mrs. Wunmi Aloba alleged receiving strange calls from different people threatening her if she continued seeking justice for her late husband’s soul. Fortunately, she did not mention in the report that the callers used unknown numbers. Since she reported to the Nigeria Police, she should allow the police to investigate these calls.
“Thirdly, Mrs. Wunmi Aloba expressed concern about the Coroner’s Court not sitting for five months and her lack of communication from the court. Our clients share the same concerns, and if she requires clarification, she should consult her counsel.
“Our clients, particularly the TikTokers, assert that they made fair comments and encouraged Mrs. Wunmi Aloba to speak out about the circumstances leading to her husband’s death. If these encouraging remarks were perceived as threats, it is regrettable.
“It is crucial to state that our clients have no reason to issue threats or intimidate Mrs. Wunmi Aloba in any manner. Everyone is committed to ensuring justice for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).
“As the saying goes, conscience is an open wound, only truth can heal it, and it is the truth both our clients and those involved in the campaign to uncover the cause of the late singer’s death are seeking.”
