Mohbad’s Father Inspects Son’s Remains After Months Of Exhumation

A statement released to PUNCH Metro on Thursday, signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, clarified that the visit was prompted by rumors alleging government interference with access to the morgue. Odumosu emphasized that the visitation occurred without any hindrance.

Last Friday, the Aloba family and their legal representatives, including MohBad’s father, Mr. Gurexy, Justice for MohBad advocate Emmanuel Oroko, Esq., and Monisola Odumosu herself, visited the morgue to view the late singer’s remains. Contrary to misinformation, Odumosu stated that the family was not restricted from seeing the body. The visitation team was assured by the morgue’s head that no formal application or official approval was necessary for the family to inspect the body.

MohBad, who passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, had stirred controversies surrounding his death. As a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, he left the label in February 2022. The Lagos State Police Command initiated a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe the circumstances of his death.

The subsequent arrest of Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were linked to MohBad’s demise. The singer’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023, to determine the cause of death. The police, awaiting results, declared Primeboy wanted on October 4, 2023, and he turned himself in two days later. In November 2023, MohBad’s father explicitly stated that no one should proceed with his son’s burial without his authorization.
