Mother Of Slain Daughter Commends Court’s Decision On Killer’s Death Sentence

Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji of the Kano State High Court delivered the verdict, condemning Geng to the ultimate penalty for his heinous crime.

The incident, which occurred in September 2022, saw Geng unlawfully invade Ummita’s residence and fatally stab her during a dispute. Following the gruesome act, Geng fled the scene but was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement and brought to trial.

During the court proceedings, Geng admitted to the crime, revealing that Ummita’s decision to marry another individual had shattered his heart, despite his intentions of starting a life with her. He disclosed details of their wedding preparations, including the purchase of expensive wedding attire and accessories, only to be betrayed by Ummita’s marriage to someone else while still soliciting financial support from him.

Following the court’s verdict, Hajiya Fatima Zubairu expressed her profound sadness over the loss of her daughter. Nevertheless, she conveyed her satisfaction with the judge’s decision, affirming that justice had been rightfully served.

In her statement to reporters, she remarked, “While the pain of losing my daughter remains unbearable, I find solace in the fact that justice has been duly served.”
