The somber funeral rites took place on Thursday, February 8, 2024, marking the final farewell to the beloved mother and daughter duo.

Reports from LIB revealed the tragic circumstances surrounding their demise. Maria had traveled to Abuja to provide care and support to her daughter, Christiana, who had recently welcomed a newborn after a decade of longing for a child.

However, their joyous reunion turned into a nightmare when kidnappers stormed their home near the Mopol Barracks in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The assailants abducted Maria, Christiana, and the newborn baby, demanding a staggering N90 million ransom from the family for their release.

After tense negotiations, the kidnappers agreed to accept N10 million as ransom. Yet, despite the family’s desperate efforts to secure their freedom, tragedy struck when news arrived that Christiana and her mother had been mercilessly killed by their captors. The newborn baby was abandoned in a hospital, left orphaned by the senseless violence.
