The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared that he has no fear about the 2027 presidential election, while urging Nigerians to reject politicians who violate the National Peace Accord.

According to Ireporter Online, Obi made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking with journalists during the signing of the National Peace Accord ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Anambra State governor called on voters to withdraw their support from politicians who breach the agreement, arguing that denying such candidates votes would serve as a strong deterrent against electoral violence and misconduct.

Obi’s comments came amid concerns over violence and deaths recorded during the build-up to the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

He stressed that no Nigerian should lose their life because of an election and urged political actors to prioritise peace throughout the electoral process.

Speaking about his plans for 2027, Obi said he is determined to reform Nigeria’s electoral system but acknowledged that he must first participate in the existing process to achieve the desired changes.

He also called on all candidates seeking elective positions in 2027 to conduct themselves responsibly and uphold the principles of peaceful and credible elections.

The NDC candidate maintained that he remained confident ahead of the presidential contest, insisting that he had no fears about the election.
