NAF Jets Pound Boko Haram Enclaves in Borno, Destroy Command Centres

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting key Boko Haram strongholds in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State, dealing a significant blow to insurgent activities in the North-East region.

Naija News gathered that the offensive, executed under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Saturday, July 6, 2025, specifically struck two high-value targets — Wa Jahode and Loghpere — long known as fortified bases for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were launched following detailed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that confirmed a resurgence of terrorist activity in the targeted areas.

“The high-profile targets, Wa Jahode and Loghpere, have long served as fortified enclaves for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad faction of Boko Haram,” Ejodame disclosed.

He further explained that ISR efforts revealed multiple indicators of intensified terrorist preparations, including logistics warehouses, solar-powered installations, black flags, and concealed defensive structures, pointing to plans for possible coordinated attacks.

The airstrikes reportedly demolished several critical terrorist installations, including command centres, supply depots, and deeply embedded shelters in the mountainous terrain near the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

“Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, effectively disrupting their supply chain and diminishing their capability to sustain further offensives,” the Air Force spokesperson stated.

Ejodame emphasized that the destruction of these logistics hubs marks a strategic success, likely crippling Boko Haram’s operational ability to regroup or launch large-scale assaults in the near future.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute to sustain the ongoing onslaught against terrorists and restore lasting peace to all troubled regions across the country,” he added.

The Mandara Mountains, with their rugged landscape and remote access points, have historically served as safe havens for terrorist factions. Their proximity to Cameroon and the difficult terrain have made them ideal for insurgent concealment and attacks.

Saturday’s successful strikes form part of renewed military efforts to dismantle remaining insurgent networks, particularly those believed to host top-ranking Boko Haram commanders and critical infrastructure.
