In a statement tagged Alert 043/2024, the agency highlighted the fake drug’s production and expiration dates as February 2023 to June 2023 and May 2026 to June 2026, respectively. The counterfeit batch carries the number 7225119 and NAFDAC Registration No: A11-0299.

The manufacturer listed is Strides Arcolab Limited, based in Bangalore, India.

To address the issue, NAFDAC has intensified surveillance efforts and called for the removal of the fake product from the market. Importers, distributors, retailers, and healthcare providers have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid dealing in counterfeit medicines.

NAFDAC encouraged the public to report suspicious activities or fake drugs to its toll-free line, email, or via the Med-Safety app. Consumers and health professionals were also urged to report any adverse drug effects.

The agency confirmed it would share this information with the World Health Organization to tackle counterfeit medicines globally.
