New NBA President Afam Osigwe Vows to Transform Legal Landscape with Accountability and Reform
Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has been inaugurated as the 32nd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), marking a new chapter in the organization’s history. According to DAILY POST, Osigwe’s address, titled “Our Mandate,” set a clear agenda for his tenure, focusing on accountability, transparency, and reform.
Osigwe, who previously served as the NBA’s General Secretary, laid out a comprehensive vision for his presidency. He emphasized the critical role of legal practitioners in fostering societal progress and ensuring that both federal and state governments are held accountable for their duties to the public.
A key element of Osigwe’s plan is to enhance transparency within government operations and reduce the cost of governance. He aims to closely scrutinize government policies and financial expenditures to ensure they align with public needs and contribute to effective governance.
In his address, Osigwe outlined several priority areas, including security, fundamental rights, and essential services such as employment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
