Ajani, a well-known figure, was followed from Offa to his residence in Tanke, Ilorin, where he had just arrived with his family. Around 3 p.m., four young men, believed to be between 18 and 22 years old, reportedly entered his compound.

CCTV footage later revealed chilling details: two of the attackers stood near the gate, one casually sipping from a plastic bottle, while the other two entered the house. Upon spotting them from his sitting room, Ajani went to meet the intruders at the door, unaware of the deadly attack that was about to unfold.

Witnesses described the scene as harrowing. After a brief interaction, Ajani was suddenly struck down, his body left face down in a pool of blood. The attackers swiftly fled the scene, leaving behind gruesome evidence of their brutality.

The police were quickly alerted, and officers from the Kwara State Police Command arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. No arrests have been made as of yet, but authorities have confirmed that the case is being actively pursued.

In the aftermath, the community has rallied around Ajani’s grieving family, offering condolences as they come to terms with the shocking loss.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun confirmed the incident, stating: “The retired controller of works was killed in Tanke yesterday. Investigations are ongoing, and we are determined to find those responsible.”

As the investigation continues, residents and loved ones are left in disbelief over the senseless violence that claimed the life of a respected public servant.
