Nigeria Looks To Strengthen UK Relations, Aiming For Economic Growth And Mutual Cooperation
Nigeria is working to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with the United Kingdom, as reaffirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar. Tuggar stated that the goal was to consolidate Nigeria’s long-standing relationship with the UK, explore new opportunities for economic growth, and promote regional peace and stability. The visit also involved discussions at various institutions, including Chatham House, the House of Commons, and the BBC House in London, where issues such as Nigeria’s foreign policy, economic diversification, investment climate, and digital transformation were addressed.
The visit is expected to foster cooperation on key areas, including security, intelligence-sharing, and addressing instability in West Africa. Additionally, there will be a focus on attracting investment, strengthening Nigeria’s financial sector, and expanding business opportunities that support economic growth and job creation. The collaboration between Nigerian and UK academic institutions in education, research, and technology will also be strengthened.
