Nigerian Army Hands Over Rescues Abducted Students To Governor Ododo (Details)
In a significant operation, the Nigerian Army officially handed over eight rescued students from Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, Kogi State, to Governor Ahmed Ododo at the Army Headquarters in Abuja. This event took place on Monday, following their rescue from a dense forest near Oro Ago Village in Kwara State.
Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Emekah, representing Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, oversaw the handover. He highlighted the joint efforts of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies in successfully rescuing the students from terrorist captivity. Emekah assured that the mission to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators is ongoing.
Governor Ododo expressed profound gratitude for the safe return of the students, though he acknowledged the sorrowful loss of two abducted students. He praised President Bola Tinubu and the military for their unwavering efforts in tackling insecurity.
“I have come to realise that the Nigerian army has all it takes to stamp out kidnapping, banditry and all forms of criminal activities from our land,” Governor Ododo remarked. He commended the high level of synergy and professionalism displayed by the security forces and promised Kogi State’s continued partnership in combating crime.
Governor Ododo assured the students of ongoing support for their educational pursuits and aspirations. He emphasized Kogi’s rich mineral resources and the commitment to making these assets work for the state’s benefit. He confidently declared that Kogi State is not a safe haven for criminals, warning that any assailants entering the state would face severe consequences.
This rescue operation underscores the collaborative strength of Nigeria’s security agencies and their commitment to protecting the nation’s citizens from criminal activities.
