Ejimakor refuted claims that Kanu’s legal team set conditions for his trial, asserting that such reports were false and misleading. Instead, he emphasized that their primary plea focused on reinstating Kanu’s bail, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directive following its December 15, 2023 ruling.

During the April 17 hearing, Ejimakor highlighted their application for bail reinstatement as mandated by the Supreme Court’s decision, stressing the importance of adhering to constitutional provisions. He underscored that the purpose of seeking bail restoration was to facilitate an accelerated trial, ensuring Kanu’s fair treatment under the law.

Drawing attention to the oppressive conditions in Department of State Services (DSS) detention, Ejimakor emphasized the necessity of bail to safeguard Kanu’s rights and enable adequate preparation for his defense.
