His remarks follow the symbolic action of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, who spent the night in the conflict-prone town of Marte on Sunday, showing solidarity with its embattled residents amid repeated assaults by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.

Commending Governor Zulum’s bold leadership, Baba-Ahmed took to his handle on Monday to sound an urgent alarm over escalating insecurity in both Borno and Yobe states.

He stressed that it is imperative for the federal government to prevent extremist groups from gaining further ground in the region.

“The nation must focus on Borno and Yobe, and acknowledge the courageous efforts of Governor Zulum in highlighting the suffering and needs of the people there. At all costs, we must not surrender any more territory to terrorists. Let’s raise our voices so Abuja listens,” Baba-Ahmed wrote.
