Breaking: Openly Gay Islamic Cleric Shot Multiple Times

A well-known Islamic cleric, Muhsin Hendricks, who publicly identified as gay, has been shot and killed near Gqeberha, South Africa.

According to police reports, Hendricks was inside a car with another individual when two masked gunmen emerged from a vehicle that had blocked their path. The attackers fired multiple shots, instantly killing the Imam before fleeing the scene.………READ MORE 

Authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, though the motive remains unknown.

Hendricks, regarded as the world’s first openly gay Imam, was known for his advocacy in LGBTQ+ Muslim communities. He founded the Al-Ghurbaah mosque in Cape Town, which served as a sanctuary for queer Muslims and marginalized women to practice Islam freely.

Despite receiving threats in the past, Hendricks remained vocal about his identity and mission. He once stated that “the need to be authentic is greater than the fear of death.”

A video circulating on social media purportedly shows the fatal attack, with police confirming its authenticity.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
