Northern Youths Demand Immediate Removal Of Keyamo, Cardoso; Seek Senate’s Intervention
In a bold move, the Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations has issued a resolute demand for the immediate removal of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso…..CONTINUE READING
The group conveyed its stance through a communique released on Thursday and signed by its convener, Murtala Abubakar, Director of Public Communication and Strategy, Hashim Tom Maiyashi, and Director of Gender Mobilization, Latifa Abdussalam.
While commending the Northern caucus of the Senate for their efforts, the group called on lawmakers to take decisive action by seeking the dismissal of the two appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The demand is rooted in the group’s assertion that both officials are unsuitable to preside over federal institutions, highlighting recent decisions made by the CBN and Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) as evidence of their incompetence.
The Northern Youth Associations emphasized that the removal of Keyamo and Cardoso is not intended as a punitive measure but as an urgent step to restore public trust, ensure accountability, and uphold the constitutional integrity of key institutions that significantly influence the nation’s economic and administrative landscape.
Expressing concern about decisions impacting the country’s economic and administrative landscape, the group underscored the importance of competence, transparency, and adherence to constitutional principles in such matters.
They called on representatives in the National Assembly to exercise their full legislative oversight functions and set a definite deadline for the executive to rescind decisions related to the relocation of CBN departments and FAAN headquarters.
The group’s demand reflects a broader call for proactive corrective measures to address issues affecting vital institutions, and it awaits the Senate’s response to address these concerns and safeguard the interests of the Northern region.
