Obaseki’s Political Blitz: Meet Paschal Ugbome, The Imminent Deputy Gov, As Shaibu Faces Political Oblivion
By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah
In the thunderous echoes of Edo State’s political battleground, Governor Obaseki’s strategic prowess has once again taken center stage. As the state hurtles towards the September gubernatorial elections, a tempest is brewing within the hallowed chambers of the Edo State House of Assembly. The target? Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, now at the mercy of an impeachment process, with disloyalty cited as the catalyst for his impending political demise.
For Obaseki, a seasoned political tactician yet to taste defeat, this move is just another conquest. Philip Shaibu, once a political powerhouse, is now on the brink of losing it all—his career, respect, and political clout.
In the midst of this political maelstrom emerges the man poised to step into the void left by Shaibu’s imminent fall. Behold, the next deputy governor of Edo State, the illustrious Hon (Barr) Paschal Ugbome.
Known as “OMINIMINI,” a moniker that reverberates through the political corridors of Edo, Hon Paschal Ugbome is not a newcomer to the political arena. Hailing from Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central Local Government, Ugbome brings a formidable pedigree to the table.
An alumnus of the prestigious University of Benin (UNIBEN), Hon Paschal Ugbome was called to the Bar in 1988 from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. A Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and currently pursuing his Masters in Law (LLM) at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Ugbome is a legal luminary with a stellar track record.
His political journey includes being a former Member and Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly, the first Ekperi son to chair the Etsako Central Local Government, and a distinguished member of the NECO Board. Ugbome’s political acumen has been further highlighted by his roles as the former Edo State PDP Vice Chairman, Edo North, and his current position as the Edo State PDP Director of Organization and Operations.
Ugbome’s political philosophy, encapsulated in “OMINIMINI,” signifies his commitment to promoting the greatest good for the greatest number of people. An ardent Christian, a devoted family man, and a recipient of numerous awards for his selfless service to humanity, Ugbome stands ready to steer Edo towards a future defined by progress and inclusive governance.
As the political stage undergoes a seismic shift, Edo awaits the unfolding drama, with Obaseki orchestrating a new era, and Ugbome poised to become the beacon of hope in this turbulent political landscape.
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, an astute commentator, unravels Edo’s political drama with precision. Stay tuned for more gripping insights as Osigwe navigates the twists and turns of this unfolding narrative.
