The suspects, Monsuru Musa, Adija Monsuru, and Shehu Dikko, allegedly launched a vicious attack on an okada rider, identified simply as Tijanni, last Monday evening, March 4.

The assault inflicted severe injuries on Tijanni’s head, neck, and lip, leaving him in critical condition.

According to reports, Monsuru initially requested Tijanni to transport her to the Soyeye area from Lafenwa in Abeokuta. However, upon reaching an isolated spot just before the Soyeye community, Monsuru instructed Tijanni to halt the motorcycle, ostensibly to call her friend who was expected to travel the same route.

Moments later, Musa and Dikko arrived at the scene and joined Monsuru on the motorcycle. As Tijanni prepared to resume the journey, Musa and Dikko attempted to strangle him by fastening a rope around his neck. Meanwhile, Monsuru allegedly struck the motorcyclist on the head with a large wooden plank, prompting him to cry out for help.

Fortunately, other motorcyclists, local residents, and a police team swiftly intervened, apprehending the three suspects before they could flee into the nearby bush.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, revealed that the suspects were part of a notorious syndicate known for motorcycle theft. She confirmed that the victim had been hospitalized for treatment.

Omolola assured the public that the suspects would face prosecution for their alleged crimes, emphasizing the commitment of the police to combat criminal activities in the state.
