This development unfolded just 24 hours after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa nominated Adelami for the position, underscoring the smooth progression of the approval process.

The Assembly’s decision came after a meticulous screening process and the consideration of a report by the House selection committee, presided over by Speaker Olamide Oladij, during the plenary session.

Prior to the plenary, a screening exercise was conducted for Adelami at the Assembly complex.

The Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter sent by Governor Aiyedatiwa, formally presenting Adelami’s nomination to the Assembly for consideration.

Following the submission of the committee’s report, Deputy Speaker Abayomi Akinruntan recommended the confirmation of Adelami, asserting that the nominee had undergone a thorough screening.

The Majority Leader, Mr. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved the motion for the report to be considered and for Adelami’s confirmation. The motion found support from Felix Afe, representing Akoko North West 2 Constituency.

Speaker Oladiji, in ruling for the confirmation, extended congratulations to the Deputy Governor designate and urged him to bring his best efforts to the role.

He pledged the house’s support to the executive, emphasizing the shared goal of delivering more democracy dividends to the people.

In response, Adelami expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the nomination, vowing not to betray the confidence reposed in him.

As the confirmation is sealed, Adelami is poised to assume the responsibilities of Deputy Governor, contributing to the leadership and development of Ondo State.
