Olatunde accused Aiyedatiwa of being deceptive, stating that the incumbent Governor did not have a smooth relationship with Akeredolu until his demise.
In a statement addressed to journalists, Olatunde rebuked Aiyedatiwa for exploiting the deceased Governor’s name for political gain, cautioning him to desist from such tactics.
He clarified that Akeredolu did not anoint or express a desire for Aiyedatiwa to succeed him, contrary to the claims made by the incumbent Governor. Olatunde emphasized that the relationship between Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa became strained and distant over time.
Furthermore, Olatunde highlighted instances where Akeredolu intentionally kept Aiyedatiwa away from him during official engagements, expressing disappointment and regret over certain behaviors displayed by Aiyedatiwa during the late Governor’s health challenges.
The statement also referenced a video from the swearing-in ceremony of Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa, suggesting that while Akeredolu had hopes for Aiyedatiwa initially, events later revealed a betrayal of trust and confidence.
Olatunde concluded by urging Aiyedatiwa to cease his deceptive tactics and focus on his campaign, emphasizing that Akeredolu’s supporters, including members of his family, do not endorse Aiyedatiwa’s aspiration to clinch the party’s ticket.
