The commendation service, held on Tuesday, drew a distinguished crowd, including the incumbent Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, and his deputy, Dr. Olaide Adelani. Also in attendance were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Adenike Adeyemo, former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and Minister of State for Transport, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.

The congregation also saw the presence of influential figures such as Oba Otudeko, former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, retired AIG Tunji Alapinni, former Minister of Science and Technology, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, and many others.

Amidst heartfelt tributes and reflections, the widow of the late governor, Betty Akeredolu, along with her children, joined the mourners in paying their last respects to their beloved patriarch.

Addressing the gathering, the Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Williams Aladekugbe, urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts in addressing the prevailing socio-economic and security challenges facing the nation.

Drawing inspiration from the Scriptures, Bishop Aladekugbe reflected on the legacy of Governor Akeredolu, highlighting his courage and tangible impact on the lives of the people, particularly through initiatives like Amotekun.

As concerns mount over rising food prices and economic hardships, the Bishop issued a heartfelt plea to all levels of government, urging swift intervention to alleviate the suffering of the populace. He emphasized the need for collective prayers and trust in divine intervention during these challenging times, calling on citizens to use the period of Lent for reflection and supplication.
