Speaking at a celebratory event organized by his supporters in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa thanked his backers for their unwavering support during the party’s primary election.
Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the primary contest was just the beginning, and the APC still faced a significant battle in the main election.
Aiyedatiwa emerged as the winner of the APC primary election, securing a substantial number of votes across 16 out of the 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
Meanwhile, another aspirant, Olusola Oke, has contested the validity of the primary election results. Oke, who secured third place in the primary, argued that the involvement of the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, violated a court order, rendering the primary election null and void.
Oke’s petition calls for the nullification of the primary election results and the conduct of a fresh primary election in compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
As the political landscape in Ondo State continues to evolve, Aiyedatiwa’s optimism reflects the confidence within the APC camp as they gear up for the upcoming governorship election
