This pivotal decision, announced following a high-level Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Tinubu, signifies a bold step towards streamlining government operations and optimizing resource allocation.

The Oronsaye report, a seminal document advocating for efficiency and cost-effectiveness in public administration, identifies a staggering 541 federal agencies and proposes extensive restructuring measures to enhance operational effectiveness and fiscal prudence.

Among the key recommendations, 263 statutory agencies are earmarked for consolidation into 161 entities, with an additional 38 agencies slated for outright abolition and 52 for merger. Furthermore, the report advocates for the reversion of 14 agencies into departments within ministries to foster a leaner administrative framework.

Outlined below are the federal agencies marked for subsumption and relocation:

Agencies to be Subsumed:

1. Service Compact with all Nigerians (SERVICOM) to be integrated as a department under the Bureau for Public Service Reforms (BPSR).
2. Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) to operate as a department under the National Boundary Commission (NBC).
3. National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC) to be incorporated into the Revenue Mobilization & Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMAFC).
4. Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution to be merged with the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).
5. Public Complaints Commission (PCC) to be assimilated under the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
6. Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis (NITR) to be integrated into the Institute of Veterinary Research (VOM).
7. Nigerian Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA) to be subsumed under the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).
8. National Intelligence Agency Pension Commission to be administered by the Nigerian Pension Commission (PenCom).
9. Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to function as a department within the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy.

Agencies to be Relocated:

1. Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to be relocated to the Ministry of Power.
2. National Agricultural Land Development Agency (NALDA) to be transferred to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
3. National Blood Service Commission to be reconstituted as an Agency and relocated to the Federal Ministry of Health.
