Osimhen’s Super Stamina Sparks Doping Buzz At 2023 AFCON: Nigerian Players Undergo Rigorous Tests

Known for his limitless stamina and unwavering strength, the 25-year-old Napoli striker’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Despite scoring just one goal and providing two assists in the last four AFCON games, Osimhen’s tireless contributions to the team have earned him acclaim.
Reports suggest that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted doping tests on Osimhen after Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on January 22, dispelling initial claims of tests following the 2-0 win against Cameroon on January 27.
However, Osimhen wasn’t the sole focus of the doping scrutiny. Key players like Simon Moses of FC Nantes and Super Eagles’ vice-captain William Troost-Ekong, who have played pivotal roles in Nigeria’s success, also underwent rigorous testing.
The CAF’s random doping tests extend beyond the Nigerian squad, targeting players from various teams exhibiting exceptional strength in the 2023 AFCON. This routine practice ensures a fair and clean tournament environment in accordance with global football standards. The buzz surrounding Osimhen’s tests reflects the intense scrutiny that accompanies outstanding performances in one of Africa’s premier football competitions.
