Osimhen Leads Napoli’s 98th Anniversary Celebration With The Club’s Legacy

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has joined in the celebrations as SSC Napoli mark their 98th anniversary, Soccernet.ng reports.

Founded on August 1, 1926, Napoli and thousands of their fans worldwide have been celebrating as the club turned 98 years old today.

The Parthenopeans, who have been relegated to Serie B seven times and Serie C once, have a lot to be joyful about their existence.

Over the last century, Napoli have won three Serie A titles, six Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana titles, and one UEFA Cup.

Osimhen played a crucial role as Napoli lifted their third Scudetto trophy last season, with the Super Eagles star scoring 31 league goals and winning the Serie A top scorer award – the first by an African.

The Super Eagles striker took to social media to wish the club a happy birthday.

On Instagram, Osimhen reposted a graphical image of Maradona and the number 98 shared by Napoli.

The Nigeria international however added a giant blue heart to the image – a combination of his heartfelt felicitations and Napoli’s traditional blue colour.

Interestingly, this summer could be Osimhen’s last as a Napoli player as the 25-year-old is on the verge of leaving the Diego Maradona Stadium.

The former Lille forward has been linked with a move to PSG all summer but the French champions have not pushed the deal over the line.

English Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea have also been credited with interest in Osimhen but no concrete bid has arrived on Napoli’s table.
