During the visit, Obi expressed deep condolences to the family and emphasized the urgent need for the government and security agencies to address the escalating issue of criminality in Nigeria.

Obi, visibly moved by the traumatic loss experienced by Nabeeha’s family, called on authorities to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining security across the nation. The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate stressed the emotional toll of losing a child and urged swift and effective measures to curb the rise in criminal activities.

Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar was among the 19 victims kidnapped in the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji area of the Bwari Area Council in Abuja. The bandits demanded a staggering N700 million ransom for nine of the victims, leading to widespread shock and concern.

During the abduction, Nabeeha, a 400-level Biological Science student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was tragically killed by the kidnappers. The incident prompted a renewed call for urgent and decisive action against the increasing security challenges facing the country.

In a related development, the Nigerian Police Force announced a significant breakthrough in the case, with the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, 28-year-old Bello Mohammed, during a hotel raid in Kaduna on January 20th. Mohammed was found in possession of N2.25 million in cash, believed to be part of the ransom money, providing a ray of hope in the pursuit of justice for Nabeeha and other victims of such heinous crimes.
