Police Chief Disu Sends DIG Nadada To Kaduna Following Ariko Village Attack

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Shehu Umar Nadada, to immediately relocate to Kaduna State following a deadly attack on Ariko village.

According to Ireporter Online, the deployment is part of urgent efforts to strengthen security operations, restore calm, and facilitate the rescue of victims abducted during the assault. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the senior officer has been tasked with coordinating on-ground security responses and working closely with other agencies.

The police hierarchy further revealed that the operation will involve collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services to ensure the safe recovery of those kidnapped and to stabilise the affected community.

Reports indicate that the attack, which occurred on April 5, 2026, targeted worship centres in the area, where gunmen opened fire on congregants. Several lives were lost, while multiple individuals were abducted during the incident, which has heightened tension across the community.

Security operatives, led by the deployed DIG, have since intensified operations in the region, leading to the rescue of some victims who are currently receiving medical attention and are said to be in stable condition.

Authorities have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining captives and bring the perpetrators to justice, while urging the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information.
