Police Launch Investigation Into Mystery Parcel Containing Bullets Sent To First Bank MD

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is investigating the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing two rounds of live ammunition to the residence of FirstBank Managing Director, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

According to reports, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed the development during a routine briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, describing the incident as a serious matter that requires comprehensive investigation.

The confirmation comes after earlier reports of the incident were reportedly dismissed by a source within the financial institution. However, police authorities stated that the bank executive formally reported the matter after a parcel received on his behalf by a security guard was opened and discovered to contain two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

Fatai revealed that detectives immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the complaint and have since been working to uncover the origin of the package and establish the motive behind its delivery.

He explained that investigators are examining multiple possibilities, including whether the parcel was intended as a threat or if it is connected to any form of criminal activity. The police commissioner added that several leads are currently being pursued, while intelligence and information provided by the complainant are being carefully analysed.

According to him, the FirstBank chief has also identified certain individuals who may possess information capable of assisting the investigation.

The police boss further stated that authorities are focused on identifying those responsible for sending the parcel and determining the circumstances surrounding the incident. He confirmed that no arrests have been made so far.

Fatai assured the public that forensic and intelligence-driven investigations remain ongoing, stressing that the command is committed to ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
