Political Propaganda! – Edo Governor Denounces PDP’s Claims on Security Failures”

The Edo State Government has dismissed accusations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging Governor Monday Okpebholo’s involvement in the state’s security challenges.

According to reports, the government described the claims made by the Godwin Obaseki-led PDP faction at a recent press briefing as baseless and misleading. In a statement issued on Saturday, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, emphasized that attempts to politicize Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to fighting crime and cultism would not succeed.

He stated, “The PDP’s claims that the state’s security apparatus is being used to target opposition figures are nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect attention from their own questionable actions.”

“Their cries of political persecution fall flat when compared to the concrete efforts and firm actions taken by Governor Okpebholo’s administration to restore peace and security throughout Edo State.”

Itua made it clear that the administration will not be swayed by political distractions, affirming the governor’s unshakable commitment to protecting the lives and property of every resident of the state.

“Anyone found to be involved in criminal activity, regardless of political affiliation, will face the full force of the law,” he added.

The government suggested that the PDP’s allegations point to the involvement of some of its members in the insecurity plaguing Edo State.

“The frantic efforts by Obaseki’s faction of the PDP to undermine Governor Okpebholo’s security initiatives only strengthen suspicions that certain individuals within their ranks are working to destabilize the state.”

“Their accusations reflect not innocence, but a fear of being held accountable. Their attempt to ridicule the recently approved minimum wage increment shows just how out of touch they are with the struggles of ordinary citizens,” the statement continued.

The Edo State Government called on all peace-loving citizens to reject the divisive tactics of the factional PDP and to continue supporting Governor Okpebholo’s mission to build a safer and more prosperous Edo.
