Atiku Commends ADC for Appointing Youths to Key Party Positions, Dismisses 2027 Presidential Ambition Rumors

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has lauded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for appointing young Nigerians into strategic roles within its National Working Committee (NWC)—a move he described as a bold step toward genuine youth inclusion in politics.

According to iReporter Online, the ADC recently appointed Bilyaminu Duhu as Assistant National Youth Leader (North East), Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hassana Dada as Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central), David Itokpa as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Hauwa Yusuf as Deputy National Secretary.

Reacting to the appointments in a post shared via X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Atiku expressed admiration for the party’s inclusive stance.
He stated: “Congratulations to the vibrant young members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)… The @ADCNig is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action.”

Atiku emphasized that the future of Nigerian youths must not be determined in their absence, adding that the ADC has set a powerful example for other political parties.

Meanwhile, according to iReporter Online, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, has categorically dismissed reports suggesting that the former Vice President is preparing for a 2027 presidential bid.

The clarification followed the circulation of a viral video in which Atiku appeared to hint at a future candidacy.

However, Ibe clarified in a statement on Friday that the video being referenced is outdated and was recorded in 2022, ahead of the PDP presidential primaries for the 2023 elections.

He accused some media platforms of taking the video out of context for political mischief.

According to iReporter Online, Ibe said: “Atiku’s old video is being used for mischief… He sounded confident because that is what is expected of a man who had worked hard and was optimistic of victory in the 2023 primaries.

It is important to provide the proper context of this video to prevent misrepresentation.”
