Pregnant Woman Fakes Kidnapping, Extorts N2 Million Ransom From Husband

Rosemary reportedly collaborated with an accomplice, Walter Ezeala, to stage her kidnapping and extort a ransom of N2 million from her husband.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, disclosed this development on Wednesday while parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters.

According to Igweh, the incident unfolded when Rosemary’s husband, Chiedozie Ubah, reported to the Gwagwa Police Division that his pregnant wife, who had left home for a scan, failed to return.

Subsequently, Chiedozie received a call purportedly from his wife’s kidnappers, demanding the ransom for her release.

Acting on the instructions, Chiedozie transferred the sum of N2 million into his wife’s account as directed by the caller. However, he later brought his wife to the police station after her supposed release.

During interrogation, Rosemary confessed to colluding with Walter Ezeala, a neighbor residing in the same street, to extort money from her husband.

Walter, upon his arrest, admitted to his involvement, revealing that he received N800,000 as his share, while Rosemary pocketed N1.2 million.

The police recovered N793,500 in cash, two FCMB ATM cards, and two android phones from the suspects.

Both suspects are set to be charged to court soon, as investigations continue into this shocking case of deception and extortion.
