Presidency Seizes the Helm: Tinubu Shifts Surveyor-General’s Office to Fast-Track Legacy Projects

According to IReporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGF) to operate directly under the Presidency. The decision, disclosed during the 150th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held at the State House in Abuja, is aimed at accelerating the pace of critical national infrastructure projects.

President Tinubu stated that the strategic transfer will streamline planning, improve geospatial coordination, and enhance execution of high-impact projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway. He emphasized that eliminating bureaucratic layers would significantly boost efficiency and project delivery timelines.

“We must break away from bottlenecks. Our legacy projects are too important to be delayed. We’re taking direct control to ensure results,” the President declared during the session.

In a related development, the President has also approved a key leadership change within the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC). A statement released Thursday from the State House confirmed the appointment of Omotenioye Majekodunmi as the new Director-General of the NCCC, replacing Dr. Nkiruka Madueke, who had served as the council’s pioneer head since June 2024.

Majekodunmi, a seasoned climate finance expert and environmental lawyer with over 17 years of experience, previously served as Financial Adviser to the NCCC. She is recognized for her contributions to shaping Nigeria’s climate diplomacy and strategic policy engagements.
