President Tinubu Directs Commencement Of Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway Design

President Bola Tinubu has instructed Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to initiate the design process for the Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway. Umahi disclosed that the Sokoto-Badagry Highway spans 1,000 kilometers and is set to be a significant addition to Nigeria’s infrastructure network. He expressed satisfaction with President Tinubu’s directive to commence the immediate design of the highway, emphasizing its importance as a spur of the Coastal Highway project.

According to Umahi, the design process has already commenced, with plans to begin construction at the Sokoto end once approval is obtained from the Federal Executive Council. Additionally, he highlighted another spur project, spanning 361 kilometers, which will connect Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja and extend to Cameroon.

The Minister emphasized the strategic significance of these projects, noting that they will enhance connectivity between regions and promote economic development across the country. Upon completion, the coastal road network will facilitate seamless transportation links from the South-West to the South-South, North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions of Nigeria.

Umahi’s remarks underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to advancing critical infrastructure projects aimed at fostering national unity and socio-economic progress. The initiation of the design process marks a significant step towards realizing the vision of an integrated and well-connected transportation network across Nigeria.
