President Tinubu Meets Senate Leaders In High-Level Talks
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Senate at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which was confirmed in a statement on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had Senate President Godswill Akpabio leading a delegation of principal officers and lawmakers to the discussions.
The statement disclosed that the engagement focused on issues of urgent national importance, with both the executive and legislative arms reportedly taking far-reaching decisions aimed at strengthening governance and addressing pressing national concerns. Onanuga noted that the session was strategic in nature and centered on collaboration for effective national development.
In a related development, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has stated that Nigerians may need to exercise patience for about two to three years before fully experiencing the benefits of the ongoing economic reforms introduced by President Tinubu.
Speaking during an appearance on a television programme, Cole acknowledged public concerns over the slow transmission of macroeconomic improvements into everyday living conditions. He explained that while key economic indicators may show progress, the true measure of reform success lies in tangible relief for ordinary citizens, which may take time to materialize.
