Protesters Storm National Assembly Over Kaduna Village Bombing
On Wednesday, December 6, protesters staged an invasion of the National Assembly building in Abuja, expressing their outrage over the killing of numerous innocent citizens by a military drone on Sunday, December 6.
Demonstrators gathered at the National Assembly entry gate for over two hours, calling for justice for the victims of the bombing and exerting pressure on the Minister of Defense, Abubakar Badaru, to fulfill his responsibilities or resign.
Reports from The Nation on Monday highlighted that more than 90 villagers in Tudun Biri, Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State, lost their lives when a Nigerian Army drone bombed a gathering of civilians celebrating Maulud on Sunday night. Locals also reported over sixty injuries resulting from the event. The military later acknowledged the bombing and provided additional details.

Speaking to the press, Nasir Ishaku, the leader of the protesters representing the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) North West Zone and Arewa Youth Movement, demanded justice for the victims. Ishaku declared such incidents intolerable, emphasizing that innocent Nigerians, particularly in the northern region, should not be subjected to daily killings. He urged the National Assembly to investigate and take decisive action regarding the massacre that occurred in Kaduna on Sunday to salvage the nation.
He said: “For those who have eyes to see, let them see well, and those who have ears to hear, let them listen attentively. Nigeria is not well because Nigerians are being killed day by day.
“The security situation in the country keeps deteriorating since his (Badaru) inception as Minister of Defence. These two organisations have a moral obligation to express our grievances because Nigeria is in shambles in terms of the security of lives and property, most especially, in Northern Nigeria.
“Nigeria keeps losing members of the armed forces which include the army, the air force, the navy, and members of the Nigeria Police Force. Our university students are still in captivity and no one knows their whereabouts. These are the clear indications that the minister is incompetent to handle that sensitive ministry. Therefore, he should wake up to his responsibilities or resign.”
