Real Madrid Captain Dani Carvajal Set to Leave The Club

Real Madrid have officially announced that club captain Dani Carvajal will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract, concluding an extraordinary 24-year association with the club.

According to an official statement released by Real Madrid, the decision was reached by mutual agreement, bringing to a close one of the most successful careers in the club’s illustrious history.

Carvajal, 34, first joined Real Madrid’s academy in 2002 and spent a decade developing through the youth ranks before returning to the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. He quickly established himself as a key figure in the first team and went on to become one of the finest right-backs of his generation.

Over 13 seasons with the senior squad, Carvajal made 450 appearances, scoring 14 goals and registering 65 assists while serving as an integral part of one of the most dominant periods in Real Madrid’s history.

His remarkable trophy collection includes 27 major titles, among them six UEFA Champions League crowns, six Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and four Spanish Super Cups. He also joins an elite group of just five players to have won the European Cup six times.

The defender enjoyed significant individual recognition in the latter stages of his career, earning a place in the FIFPro World XI in 2024 and being named Player of the Match in the 2024 Champions League final after finding the back of the net.

On the international stage, Carvajal earned 51 caps for Spain national football team and celebrated victories at UEFA Euro 2024 and the UEFA Nations League in 2025.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez described Carvajal as a symbol of the club and its academy, praising his unwavering commitment and embodiment of Real Madrid’s values throughout his career.

The club is expected to honour the departing captain with a special tribute ceremony at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium during Saturday’s final league fixture, where supporters will bid farewell to one of the greatest legends in the club’s history.
