Sani Musa for APC Chair! Massive Youth Coalition Rallies Akpabio’s Support
A coalition of youth leaders from over 1,000 support groups under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s North Central zone has initiated a political move to secure support for Senator Mohammed Sani Musa’s emergence as the next APC National Chairman. The coalition, operating under the North Central APC Youth Vanguard, has resolved to send a 100-man delegation to meet with Senate President Godswill Akpabio to present their case for Senator Musa’s endorsement.
The resolution was made during an emergency summit held in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where youth representatives emphasized the importance of strategic leadership positioning for the North Central region in preparation for the 2027 general elections. In a communique signed by the coalition’s convener, Dan Okwa, the group reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and stated that only a firm, visionary, and grassroots-rooted party leader could help consolidate the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the youths insisted that the North Central must not remain on the sidelines of political power but be directly involved in shaping the APC’s future. They described Senator Sani Musa, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Finance, as a loyal, experienced, and forward-thinking leader who understands both the internal dynamics of the party and the needs of its base.
While acknowledging other aspirants, including former Nasarawa governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, the group maintained that Sani Musa represents a generational shift that blends competence with energy. “We respect other leaders, especially Senator Al-Makura, but this moment demands a younger, unifying leader who can energize the party’s grassroots and youth base,” the communiqué read.
The coalition further urged political elders from the North Central to encourage Senator Musa to officially declare his intention to contest for the national chairmanship. The delegation to Akpabio is expected to submit a petition detailing the resolutions from the Lafia summit, alongside a report outlining the North Central’s longstanding contributions to the APC’s stability and victories.
ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the youth leaders emphasized that their campaign is not solely about regional interests but about rebuilding trust in the APC, enforcing discipline, and ensuring electoral readiness. They revealed plans for widespread mobilization across North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention.
ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the delegation is expected to meet with Senate President Akpabio in Abuja this week, where they hope to secure his support for Senator Sani Musa’s candidacy. The youth movement insists that their drive for leadership restructuring is crucial to repositioning the party and securing lasting victories in future polls.
